The Animal Health Centre is an established Practice in the Barry and Boverton communities. It used to provide veterinary treatment for all farm and companion animals. Over the years the need for higher quality small animal care increased and in 2008, we became dedicated to working with cats, dogs, rabbits and small companion animals.
Pets are often treated as members of the family and owners rightly want to be sure they receive excellent medical treatment.
As a client of the Animal Health Centre, you will have the peace of mind that your vets and nurses are properly qualified and fit to practise. We are pleased to be accredited to the Practice Standards Scheme set out by The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Through setting standards and carrying out regular inspections, the Scheme promotes and maintains the highest standards of veterinary care. Insert PSS Accreditation logo The veterinary surgeons and nurses continue to develop their professional knowledge by attending regular training courses, keeping us up to date with current issues and techniques.

We recognise that cats can be especially stressed by a trip to the vets and we aim to make their stay as relaxing as possible. Many clients comment how relaxed their cat is under our care. We have a separate cattery for our feline friends, which is peaceful and L-shaped to prevent ‘staring’.
We offer a level of surgical expertise above that of the average veterinary practice in our fully equipped operating theatre. Deborah, has 10 years of experience carrying out orthopaedic and more complicated surgeries to a high standard, meaning referral is not usually necessary when you are a client of the Animal Health Centre. We recognise dental health is a major issue for today’s pets and we have a dedicated dental room with equipment better than many human dentists can offer! All of our operations are performed at our Barry branch where we have qualified nurses to look after your pets during their stay.
We understand your needs and are happy to attend your home to examine your pet. We offer home visits for a gentle, dignified and peaceful in-home euthanasia for when the time comes. It is not possible to carry blood testing equipment or xray machines on our visits so if your pet needs these, you may be advised that attending the Practice is better for you and your pet.
